Eats and Beats 2015

Youth Performers at Eats and Beats 2014
Eats and Beats
Eats and Beats is a community event including a locally-sourced, seasonal meal prepared by our youth interns, performances by our youth and local artists and a silent auction. Guests will be treated to a 5-course meal featuring ingredients donated by local farms, restaurants and businesses. Our youth are part of a national network of young leaders in food systems reform who are helping to grow a movement to build local, socially just food systems that nurture personal and environmental health. Join us on March 28th at the Newman Center at Penn (3720 Chestnut Street, Philadelphia, PA 19104) for a meal prepared and served by our youth!

The Agatston Urban Nutrition Initiative (AUNI) is a program of the Netter Center for Community Partnerships at the University of Pennsylvania that engages, educates and empowers youth, university students, and community members to promote healthy lifestyles and build a just and sustainable food system. Visit www.urbannutrition.org to learn more about our work.

Funding from Eats and Beats
All of the money raised goes directly towards our youth programming. Last year, we raised $5,000 to send our youth to New Mexico and North Carolina to meet community members from across the country who work towards food justice. With each additional dollar earned, we open our kids up to new opportunities to collaborate, learn, and grow as leaders. Some things to look forward to at Eats and Beats include:
  • a five course meal prepared by our youth
  • a silent auction featuring handmade jewelry, free fitness classes, a pickling class, and more
  • youth performances
  • raffle prizes
  • Keynote Speaker Tambra Raye Stevenson
