Riding Because Harry Can't
Many of you are intimately familiar with Harry's story. He went quickly from being a very active 8 year-old boy, to not being able to walk across the room without becoming breathless. The disease which left him severely compromised is Bronchiolitis Obliterans, an irreversible and rare form of interstitial lung disease. To date, the cause is not well understood, treatments are inconclusive in their effectiveness, and a lack of funding makes the identification of a cure seem remote. That's why we need your help for hope. Increased awareness, cutting edge research, and innovative approaches to understanding rare childhood diseases promise future improvements for kids like Harry.
The ChILD Foundation (Children's Interstitial Lung Disease) has embarked on an international effort to overcome the obstacles associated with researching interstitial lung diseases in children. ChILD and its network of research doctors (chILDRN) is the driving force in developing effective research and therapies on the way to curing the children with these tragic diseases.
When you donate to "Harry's Heroes", you are contributing to the ChILD Foundation's noble work to improve the lives of these kids and find a cure. For every dollar raised, 70 cents will be invested in specific research and programming targeted at Bronchiolitis Obliterans. The remaining 30 cents supports critical infrastructure for the ChILD Foundation, like the development of a research registry, which will capture the invaluable data which may lead to a cure. Every dollar helps, so please give what you can.
