Penn Women's Rowing Leadership Challenge

Penn Women's Rowing is poised to finally take ownership of our stature within the rowing program and to demonstrate to our athletes the future women leaders of America how to succeed at winning on and off the water. Since the launch of our program, we have been in the shadow of the men's team and although their support has reaped many benefits for our program, we have also had to rely on them. 2017 will be the year of change and for us to stand on our own.

Coach Wesley Ng and the team have already made advancements on the water toward this goal. Last year's Ivies saw the Varsity 8 finish in fourth place, our best ever. That momentum continued into the fall season as Penn won the Women's Club Fours at Head of the Charles. At the Head of the Schuylkill the team delivered another strong performance winning championships across five separate divisions, including the Championship 8+.

To launch our position as independent leaders in the boathouse, we need your help. Financial support as well as an overall commitment to helping raise the profile of the women's program are the steps we must take as a Penn Women's Rowing community. You can help us in three distinct areas:

1. Celebrating, recognizing, and reconnecting with your past experience as a student-athlete at Penn and how that resonates with the current team. Your attendance at events and races provides perspective on the proud history of the program to the current batch of women's rowers.

2. Developing and creating career, mentoring, and leadership opportunities for Penn Rowers to become agents of change in the future. Through an organized and structured mentor program driven by alumnae you can have meaningful relationships with current and future Penn Women's rowers.

3. Expanding and improving the competitive opportunities for current student-athletes. Your financial support can help us expand to a nationally competitive schedule, improve nutritional opportunities, better team travel accommodations, assist in recruiting top level rower who fit the academic profile of Penn and much, much more. Every dollar that comes in this fiscal year (until June 30, 2017) will be matched-- up to $40,000-- by an anonymous donor. Make your gift by clicking the 'Donate Now' button.

Any member of the Penn Rowing family can participate in this leadership challenge and a gift commitment of any size would be welcome! As a young alumna, established professional, parent or friend of the program, your gift is about far more than equipment, uniforms, or races. Your commitment arms women with the confidence, discipline, and drive to go forth and continue to change the world.

It's not a gift or a simple donation - it's a commitment and investment in improving those who can and will advance the discourse, opportunities, and impact for women.
