Irene H. Metcoff, beloved Mom ("Mommy"), Mom-mom, wife, and friend, passed away peacefully on September 9, 2024. Irene was born on May 22, 1948 to Alfred and Ilse Kaufmann in Philadelphia and is survived by her husband, Norm, twin brother, Allen, children, Michelle (John) Miller, Missy Paris, and Paul (Shannon) Paris, as well as her grandchildren, Abby, Leah, Jake, Sam, Alex, and Emma.
Irene attended Northeast High School and served as a teacher in the Central Bucks School District for many years, but her most important roles were as a devoted mother to her children, adored grandmother, and loving friend.
Irene's laughter and smile had a way of brightening the spirits of anyone in her presence. She radiated a genuine warmth and treated others with kindness. A natural storyteller, she always had something to share that would captivate and entertain everyone around her.
Irene found immense joy in spending time together and creating memories with those she cared about. Whether it was a day trip to New York for a Broadway show or having dinner in town (especially if raw oysters were on the menu), she always cherished being with her family and friends.
Having an effortless elegance and always dressing with a unique flair, Irene embodied fashion, style, and class. It was not uncommon to hear strangers yell "Oh, I love your shoes!" in passing, alluding to one of her many pairs of trendy footwear.
The shore served as her "happy place" and one of her favorite things to do was to be with her beloved family and friends, sitting by the pool chatting and joking. Irene and her friends traveled far and wide beyond the shores of Atlantic City as they cruised and explored the world, creating countless memories together. Whether it was mistaking tree stumps for "groundhogs" or surfers for "giant swans", her "Ireneisms" made every moment memorable and will be sorely missed.
Irene fought her battle with cancer with incredible courage and determination, confronting every step of the journey with unwavering strength and bravery. With the endless love and support of her friends and family (and, of course, her loyal companion, Belle), Irene never fought alone.
