Gary, Penn Law was very lucky to have had you land here in 1976 and stick around all this time. I enjoyed getting to know you during my years in school and afterward as well. At every alumni event I attended, you were always a welcoming presence and always made a point to come over and say hi--including the time a few years ago when Justice Stevens was at a cocktail hour following his speech and you told me to go over there to introduce myself and save him from all the law professors surrounding him. Thanks for all of that, and best wishes on your retirement! --Mr. Stephen Ferenchick

My admiration for Gary Clinton, personally and professionally, is boundless. I knew Gary in the early 80's, way before he was Dean. Back then, he was merely Everything -- perceptively and deftly helpful in every institutional issue that arose.
Gary reached out to me personally, following a family tragedy. He shared his compassion and his own experiences. I think of what Gary did for me, every time I think of the person I lost. Thank you, Gary. You always made a difference, in all sorts of ways. --Ms. Wendy Grabel

Gary did what seemed impossible - made law school fun. In the fall of 1985 he said look to your left, then look to your right, and for 3 years you'll all still be here because we need the tuition. He sorted out all the snafus for us JD/MBAs and other dual degree candidates. Law Revue. Rubber chickens. Assorted stunts. Always, always, made time for us. If we are measured by the lives we touch, Gary, you are one of the greatest. --Ms. Jenn Sawin
|
It may be odd to say this about a person, but much like the Museum of Art, or the Kimmel Center are Philadelphia treasures, Dean Clinton is just as important to the Penn Law Community. He helped countless students through their toughest days Dean Clinton personifies all that Penn Law is about: intelligence, intellect, and wit. --Mr. Joseph Cohn

Dean Clinton said during our first week of law school that there is enough success to go around, and with that simple declaration I think he completely made our law school experience.
