Million Dollar Bike Ride - Homozygous Familial Hyper Cholesterolemia
Million Dollar Bike Ride for FH

The FH Foundation is a patient-centric nonprofit organization dedicated to raising awareness to of familial hypercholesterolemia (FH) through education, advocacy, and research. Our mission is save lives by increasing the rate of diagnosis and encouraging proactive treatment of this life-threatening disease. If left untreated, FH can cause aggressive heart disease and premature heart attacks.
What is Familial Hypercholesterolemia (FH)?
Familial hypercholesterolemia (FH) an inherited metabolic disorder which results in excessive levels of LDL-cholesterol ("bad cholesterol"). As opposed to general high cholesterol, FH is a genetic disease which exposes an individual to high levels of bad cholesterol from birth. If left untreated, it leads to heart disease, heart attacks, and even death at a very young age. This is why early diagnosis and treatment are crucial to those affected by this life-threatening disease.
Need For More Therapeutic Options For Children
FH can cause aggressive heart disease very early in life. There are treatment options for adults with FH, but the therapies available for young children are limited. One of the most important things in treating this life-threatening disease is starting treatment as early as possible. Help us raise funds for research of more therapeutic options for children with FH!
Why This Is Important
Below are some facts about FH and where your funds go.
  • 1 in 250-500 people across the globe have FH
  • FH can cause heart disease or even death very early in life
  • Heart disease is the #1 killer of men and women in America
  • FH is an inherited metabolic disorder
  • Families affected by FH will cycle to raise money for FH research!
  • All donations go straight to pediatric FH research
  • 100% of your donation is tax-deductible
  • If you have FH, all your immediate relatives have a 50% chance of also having FH
  • In the US, more than 90% of those with FH remain undiagnosed
  • Treating FH early can reduce the risk of heart disease to that of the general population
